Delete your account
Zesd, by ZESD LTD
You can delete your Zesd account at any time, from the app or from this page. It is free and takes effect at once: your data is deleted, or anonymised so it can no longer be linked to you. The lists below say which.
In the app
Open Profile, tap Delete account, tick the box and confirm. You are signed out and the account is gone.
Without the app
Enter the email address you sign in to Zesd with. We email that address a link, and the account is deleted when you open the link and confirm. That is how we know the request comes from you.
If you can't get into that mailbox, or you used Zesd as a guest without an email address, write to support@zesd.co.uk from the address you signed in with, or tell us which device and roughly when you used the app. We may ask one question to make sure the account is yours, then delete it and reply to confirm, within one month at the latest and normally within a few days.
What is deleted
- Your email address, your Apple or Google sign-in, and the name and picture that came with it.
- The supermarket logins and sessions you connected, and the one-time codes your supermarket sent you.
- Your household: the names, ages, allergies and dislikes of the people you shop for.
- Photos you took or uploaded: recipe photos, the dish photo cut out of them, and support screenshots, plus the screenshots of your supermarket's website we took while filling your cart.
- What you wrote to support.
- The links you imported recipes from, and what you dictated.
- Your notification token, and any AI assistants you connected to your account.
- Your votes on the suggestion board, the people you hid there, and the device and IP address your suggestions came from.
- Recordings of your sessions in the app, held by our analytics provider, PostHog.
What is kept, anonymised so it can no longer be linked to you
These records stay so we can count how Zesd is used and fix what goes wrong. They sit under an internal account number that no longer leads to a person, and anything in them that could identify you on its own has been removed:
- The recipes you wrote or imported, without your photos (an image we generated, or the one from the recipe's own web page, stays), and your meal plans, favourites, shopping lists and cart loads. If you would rather they went too, email support@zesd.co.uk and we will remove them.
- The record of each recipe import: when it ran, whether it worked and what was read from the recipe, without the link or what you dictated.
- Your support requests: the category, the dates, and the phone model and system and app versions they were sent from, without what you wrote.
- Usage events in PostHog, such as which screens were opened, without your email address or location.
- Suggestions you posted on the board, which others may have voted for, without your name.
- The history of notifications we sent, without your device's token.
What is kept because the law requires it
- If you bought a subscription, the record of the purchase (product, price, dates) stays with our payment provider RevenueCat, and with Apple or Google, because a company has to keep its sales records, for six years in the UK. Your email address is removed from it. Cancel the subscription itself in your App Store or Google Play settings: deleting the account does not stop the store from charging you.
What goes on its own, later
- Database backups, kept for 7 days.
- Crash reports in Sentry, which can include your IP address, kept for up to 90 days.
The privacy policy has the rest: what we collect, why, and who processes it for us.
